LoveBlog -Freedom

Years ago, my friend Doug Smith planted the freedom seed within me. Over a decade ago he was making moves to be able to work from anywhere with his business True Nutrition . This inspired me. About five years ago, I also began moving toward that type of occupational freedom. I wanted to be able to work from anywhere and to be with those I love, to travel freely and not be tied to just one spot.

Now I have that freedom. I can be anywhere in the world, do what I love and contribute. I work every day and a few times a week, I wash my hair, throw it in rollers and plug away just like this. This is what I look like behind the scenes.  I work from my bed when I'm home because my cat Jack will climb all over me if I work from a desk. So I brought the desk to the bed. He lays on my lap or beside me and I work away. I love it! Plus, the bed is where I get all my good ideas 💕

Last year I was able to pack myself and Jack up and help my family. While my mother was in the hospital, I was able to be with her and not think about an office I would have to get back to. Being with her during that time, and then having that freedom in the first few months of mourning her, was such a blessing. So many people don't have that luxury to really dig deep into their grief. I remember getting off the phone with a new client and then bursting into tears. I was alone with my cat.  I could break down completely, then slowly put myself back together and go back to work when I felt ready to.

My office is always with me. In the coming months I'll be moving back to San Diego, but I’ll always have time for Nantucket. People ask, "what will you do out there?".

And my reply, "Same thing I'm doing now"!

Working from anywhere does have its challenges. I wake up and I start working. This isn't so much a challenge per se because I love what I do, but the boundaries are not quite clear. There are also days I'm not motivated and if you work from home or have your own business you need to stay motivated. No one is going to cover me or do the work for me. I am 100% responsible. Freedom is precious.💕

One of my gigs that allows me to work from anywhere is with a great company called @tawkify. I'm a matchmaker with them. If you're interested in learning more about being a matchmaker, direct message me and we can chat. If you're into love and helping people, this will be perfect for you!

Loveblog - Don't enter into a relationship until you have this first.

If your number 1 priority in life is your significant other you're liable to feel the following; unappreciated, lack of love, unbalanced, a feeling as though you have lost who you are and last but not least, drained.

Why? Because your number one priority should be yourself.  You should come before anything else; family, work, your significant other. You matter. You should be number 1. It's not selfish, it's common sense. If you're not feeling healthy and whole, you're not available for your family, friends, work or a relationship. If you keep giving yourself away, you'll have nothing left. Love should flow to and from you. Sometimes love doesn't come from others the way we would like it to. This is why it's important to love ourselves and understand we need to give ourselves the love we need and not rely on others to do it for us.

In a month or so I will be launching my first course of my love school. The course will be a love 101 class, helping you gain a deeper relationship with your self and others so that you can attracted a deeper romantic relationship. If you would like to be notified of when these Love Lessons and the launch of the love school,  plus I give special treatment to those whom are subscribed to the Love Letter, join here, It's Free, the way love should be. Love Lessons Episode 8 #1 Thing you need before you're in a relationship

Loveblog - The Sexiest and Most attractive Thing Ever!

Practically every client I have, whether they are a matchmaking client or a relationship client, they all want someone that is confident. When digging deeper into what is confidence and why do they want it the conversation usually leads to the following answers; because there's something about them and confidence is sexy.

For those out there that are concerned they will never find someone because of their age, their weight or their desires know that sexy and attractiveness has very little to do with apperences and more to do with how you carry yourself. If you're someone that feels good about who you are, you'll exude confidence. That's the most attractive and sexiest quality you can have. And know you don't have to be loud to be seen as confident. People are very attracted to those that have a quiet confidence.

That's what today's Love Lesson is all about, under five minutes of the sexiest thing about anyone.  To view today's Love Lesson Video click here; Love Lessons Episode 6 Whats The Sexiest Thing

LoveBlog - Love Is A Choice

My great grandfather Murphy said "Love is a choice. Everyday you wake up and choose love". I like to think I am carrying his words on. I like to think I choose love everyday. I don't always. He was talking about marriage and making that choice of love in your marriage and that it needs to be made everyday. I have extended that to make the love choice everyday in every eay, not just romantic love. It's not always easy but when I do connect with my heart, I'm happier. I see for my clients that when they come from this space, they too are happier.

Do you think you could make the love choice or at least strive to? When you're at the grocery store and someone takes your spot, will you choose love?  When someone posts something on social media and it offends you, will you choose love?  When someone you love doesn't love you the way you want to be loved, will you choose love?

There are lots of examples, challenging examples of choosing love. It's not always the easiest choice to make but it's the one that leads to a better world and a happier self.

It's also ok if you're like me and sometimes you stumble, yell and choose fear. We are human. I keep reminding myself after I stumble to realign myself with who I really am in my heart, mind and body...and that is love. And so are you. You are love. LoveBlog- Yoga Reaches Out Helps To Heal The World In Two Unexpected ways (And it's not what you think.)

"If you do a good job for others, you heal yourself at the same time, because a dose of joy is a spiritual cure.”
-- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Yoga Reaches Out mission. "To bring the yoga community together to create seva (selfless service) through the gift of yoga. Yoga Reaches Out  focuses on raising funds for organizations that impact the health, education and well-being of children."
Besides the fact that Yoga Reaches Out will directly help so many children in need, it also heals the world in two different ways we may not normally think about. The first is how yoga in large groups changes people and the second is how yoga changes the self and those around those that practice yoga.
With regard to yoga in a large group, the more peace and love that is practiced within the world the better off we all are.  Energetically speaking, yoga moves energy throughout the body. Stagnant air, energetic blockages all of this is transmuted into love. More often than not, effortlessly we can heal ourselves just by breathing and moving with intention.  Yoga is about undoing all the baggage/excessive negativity/pain we hold onto. So when we come together in a large group to practice yoga, we are helping to heal our bodies as well as others around us; We become a collective couciousness. Especially, Yoga Reaches out because the collective couciousness intention is to help. In a way similar to the power of prayer. I've seen people in my home town of Nantucket come together in large groups and pray for an individual and that individual makes a rapid recovery. This rings true with yoga as well. Yoga creates a love bubble. The larger the group, the greater and more powerful the love bubble becomes. Miracles of all kinds can happen in large group yoga settings. It's quite incredible! As you practice, you inspire those around you. Of course we never want to compete with those around us.  That's when injury occurs. What we want and what happens is we inadvertently send the love vibe from the core of our being to those around us and within the world. Helping to heal ourselves, those around us and sending out love in ways we don't even realize we are doing. Energy can neither be created nor distroyed. So this love bubble energy moves beyond the yoga mat and reaches beyond our own personal reach. Another portion of the love bubble is that we hold space with each other. We also help each other's practice. There have been times I didn't want to go to class but I knew there would be others and I also had a place to go to practice. A community of people that supported me. This became motivation. Always by the end of class I felt at my best. Most of the time, I have others in the room to thank for helping me get to my mat and stay there. If you've ever practiced yoga at home, you know how temping it is to leave once the going gets tough or you get bored. Yoga in large groups helps in more ways than one. Yoga Reaches out gives you the space and opportunity to connect with a community of people, help children, heal yourself but also heal the world. It's a beautiful gift.
The second way Yoga Reaches Out helps to heal the world is through Self love and self healing which lead those around that person to healing themselves, not just those practicing yoga. This is a type of ripple effect or pay it forward in a way. Let's says that Jane the yogini goes to Yoga Reaches Out. She leaves in the love bubble. She's hungry and decides to head over to the market to pick up a few items for dinner. From there she interacts with the people she sees at the grocery store where she picks up dinner. Runs into a man in the veggie section.  She smiles and says hello. Next an older lady in the spice section. She smiles and sends hello. Then heads to the checkout, where a teenager is finishing up their Sunday shift. Yoga Jane interacts with each of these persons with love from the very bottom of her heart. Then before she goes home, she stops off at a family members house, she is smiling up a storm.  "You look different".  The family member mentions as they smile back at Jane. Then she heads home and invites a friend over for dinner. Let's says she interacts with a total of five people after leaving Yoga Reaches Out. Most likely those five people she interacted with will feel good by being in her presence. We can even go as far to say that Jane brighten their day by just smiling from the heart. Then those people go on to interact with five people and so on and so forth. The yoga ripple effect. It could even be started you don't personally need to practice yoga, just spend your time with someone that does. Their happiness and love will rub off on you. When we take care of ourselves, we inspire others to do the same. And when we also take care of ourselves we bring love and joy to those around us, they in turn and bring love and joy to others. As if Jane is the candle and she lights everyone around her and then those people light others around them. The more Yoga Reaches Out events happen within the world on a regular basis we may even see world peace just because of the yoga ripple effect.
Which brings us to today's Love Tip - Send love to yourself that you so generously send to others.
What do you think? If you're looking for how you can become involved with Yoga Reaches Out, come to Yoga Reaches Out or support this organization here's the website. Take a look for more information and inspiration. You don't need to practice or go to Yoga Reaches Out to be a part of the healing and love. The event has more than just yoga. It's a community of people with the purpose to send love and help others in need.
For New England, "Yoga Reaches Out" will take place at Gillette Stadium on May 1st of this year. The proceeds go towards Boston Children's Hosptial.  And in Connecticut a Yoga Reaches Out event will take place in October. There are more events and locations coming up.  Make sure to sign up for their newsletter to stay a part of the community and be in the know. And if you're on Nantucket and would like to support the Nantucket Yoga Tribe, here's their link.
Yoga offerings for this week: Wednesday at 5:30 pm at Dharma Yoga Nantucket I will be guiding a hatha yoga class with an emphasis on the throat chakra (energy point) this chakra when in balance allows you to speak your truth. How beautiful is that!
