40 Days of Love - Day 17 - Self-care
I love self-care and it's certainly a part of my life but I struggle with it as well. Self-care is important for every human. We have to be able to secure our own oxygen mask before being able to assist others with theirs. Essentially, if you're not taking care of yourself, how do you expect to be able to to take care of others. It's important in this regard to put ourselves first. If you don't want to have an alcoholic drink, don't. If you want to workout, do it. Getting a massage because it's so good for your body, go for it! Do whatever it takes to take care of yourself.
There are many methods for self-care. Discovering what works best for you is half the fun! We are heading into December and this can be a difficult time to put ones self first in the area of our health. Make yourself a priority.
The following things I struggle with when it comes to self-care;
-Eating right; not eating too much sugar and I have a tendency to over eat.
Solution: Mindful eating. Eating only half my hunger is something I learned in India.
-Making sleep a priority
Solution: Go to bed at the same time every night and no electronics before bed.
-Saying "no". I love to do so many things and I want to be of service.
Solution: Know that if I say 'yes' to something I am saying 'no' to something else. Only agree to that which really makes my heart sing.
-Feeling guilty meditating
Solution: Give myself permission to do what I need to do to feel my best.
-Finding time to workout
Solution: Make working out a priority, like eating right or sleeping.
We all know what we should do to take better care of ourselves, yet it can be an internal battle. Give yourself permission to do what needs to be done for you to feel at your best.
You already know this, the grass is greener where you water it. December I am making my self-care a priority, how about you?
